General Home Modification Program:

SMILE offers Home Modification to the elderly and disables community. Disabled can be any age.

Our Home Modification consist of remodeling bathroom by replacing tub and shower combination with walk in or roll in showers, adding in either a built in shower chair to a folding shower chair, we replace toilets with high rise toilets, we install grabs in the shower area and by the toilet for safer access to these areas.

SMILE also widens door ways for easier access to the different rooms in your house and when needed we provide new doors and or security doors for safety reasons.

Ramps are also one of our services SMILE provides these ramps can be from the entrance of your home to the sidewalk to just a small ramp at your front door.

Home Modifications
The SMILE staff has been trained to assess homes for accessibility. We can implement permanent attached modifications, such as: Wheelchair ramps, grab bars, wheelchair accessible doorways, kitchen and bathroom adaptations. This program is funded by a CDBG grant from the City of Yuma

Emergency Home Repair:

When funding is available SMILE also provides Emergency Home Repair which can be anything from replacing an air condition unit to weatherizing windows and doors and replacing roofs.

To Qualify for SMILE’s Home Modification Program:

All you need to do is call SMILE and do an application and we can tell you if you qualify or not. Please be aware that there might be others in front of you and therefore you would be put on a waitlist.

Our Home Modification Program services all of the City of Yuma. When funding is available SMILE also services Yuma County and this is to include Foothills area Wellton, Tacna, Roll, Dateland, Somerton, San Luis and Gadson.
